SSC MTS 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern — CBT and Physical Test

Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

The Staff Selection Commission has released the syllabus and exam pattern for the SSC Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar 2026 examination. The selection process has a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for all posts and an additional Physical Efficiency Test / Physical Standard Test (PET/PST) only for Havaldar candidates. The CBT is held in two mandatory sessions on the same day with a total of 90 questions carrying 270 marks.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognised board.

Age Limit (as on cut-off date to be specified in notification): - MTS posts: 18 to 25 years - Havaldar posts: 18 to 27 years

Age Relaxation: SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: 10 years (UR), Ex-Servicemen: 3 years (as per SSC norms).

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in
  2. Complete one-time registration (OTR) if not done already
  3. Log in and apply for MTS 2026
  4. Fill personal, educational, and post-preference details
  5. Upload photograph and signature
  6. Pay the application fee online
  7. Submit and save the confirmation page

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) — Session 1 and Session 2
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) — for Havaldar posts only
  3. Document Verification
  4. Medical Examination (where applicable)

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

CBT Session 1 (45 minutes, 120 marks):

  • Total: 90 MCQs, 270 marks, 90 minutes
  • Negative marking in Session 2 only: 1 mark per wrong answer
  • Session 1 is qualifying; only candidates clearing Session 1 are evaluated for Session 2

PET for Havaldar (Male): 1600 metre walk in 15 minutes, 8 km cycling in 30 minutes. PET for Havaldar (Female): 1 km walk in 20 minutes, 3 km cycling in 25 minutes. PST for Havaldar: Height, chest (male), weight — as per SSC norms.
