India to Host BRICS National Security Advisers Meeting on June 22-23

India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers (NSA) meeting on June 22 and 23, 2026. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will chair the gathering, which will bring together his counterparts from all BRICS member countries to review cooperation on security issues and explore ways to address common threats.

The central theme of this year's meeting is non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today. Discussions will cover the rapidly evolving nature of national security threats, with a particular focus on the role of new technologies in creating emerging risks. Delegates will also review outcomes from earlier BRICS joint working group meetings on counter-terrorism and on security in the use of information and communication technologies.

Among the key attendees is Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who also performs national security functions as Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs. Wang Yi and several other participating NSAs are expected to hold separate bilateral meetings with Doval on the sidelines of the main conference.

This NSA-level meeting is an important preparatory step before the BRICS Summit that India is scheduled to host in September 2026. Leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to attend the summit, making India's role as BRICS chair this year particularly significant.
